Description:

Lady is currently ON HOLD for someone. She's scheduled to be collected Thursday. Advert will be marked as sold as soon as she's left.

"Lady" is a 14.2hh well built 12 year old Irish Cob mare, a nice weight carrying cob that's been with us for 5 years. With a placid, laid back temperament, she is ideal for nervous riders or novices. After serving in an RDA riding school, she was purchased from a reputable dealer about 5 years ago and has been used for everything including first ridden both on and off lead. She is a wonderful family horse, who doesn't have any habits and never kicks, bucks, rears, bolts, etc. Lady is brilliant to hack out alone or in company, she's bombproof and snaffle mouthed. She is currently ridden in a french link 3 ring gag on the first hole down, this is just because when she gets ridden by young children she can be a bit too strong for them to turn and control her properly, but she is absolutely fine in a snaffle)
Lady is happiest at walk and trot, plodding around the lanes. She's a real lazy armchair sort that likes to take it easy, she is happy to canter with company and will go for a gallop and a small jump if in a group which she does enjoy very much, but on the whole she's just used for occasional light hacking. She has mild arthritis in her front knees but is on no medication, it causes no pain and the vet has given the all clear for canter, gallop and light jump work.
While lady is a wonderful ride, she does have a few quirks as with any horse, however none are dangerous. The "quirks" include :
Snacking on grass if reins/lead rope is/are long.
May nip when being saddled if rope is not short (however if rope is short she is fine to saddle, she's happily distracted with food) she's had all necessary vet checks to make sure it's not pain related, she's fine!
pulls faces occasionally when having the very underside of her belly brushed, but never kicks or acts dangerously. with a short rope, this is easily controlled and causes no problems.
She is a VERY easy keeper and so laid back, but she does have a personality and can sometimes be rude (e.g pulling you to grass, pushing you with her head if she gets impatient stood for too long in one place, moving her head to the side if she doesn't want to be bridled that day) but all of her displays of rudeness are very safe and easily resolved by a confident, firm handler that tells her no. As a result, I recommend that if bought for a novice or beginner, they have someone slightly more confident and experienced around to help say 'no' when needed.
Other than the above points, lady is a star to catch, tie, shoe, feed, load, brush, rug and ride.
I have loads of photos of her and lots of videos of her too both on the ground and being ridden, this is a completely genuine sale for a much loved horse. Due to serious health complications, we just can't keep her anymore, it's not fair. Plenty of references available for people that have part loaned, helped out with or ridden lady.
Looking at LWVTB or straight sale but would consider a full loan to the perfect home.
£2250 inc tack and rugs
Please no time wasters or 'free horse' loaners as this is a very difficult decision.
