Description:

This Puch Maxi(mum) is officially the fastest Puch in the UK currently. I know this for a fact as I was the one riding it at Pendine sands,West Wales at a top speed event in May 2016, and was recorded at 63.627MPH for the measured mile.
A chance to own the fastest Puch Maxi in the UK as I have regretably decided to sell.
This Puch could be put back on the road with the addition of a brake light and a front brake set up and a front mudguard. Daytime MOT only as it has a racing ignition set up with no lighting coil.( I am thinking some bicycle light set could be fitted if you wanted to put it fully back on the road.)

Modifications done to the original bike are as follows:
Frame:
Cut down headstock and taper roller bearings cups fitted to allow the fitment of the stronger forks (Pitbike 33mm)
Frame seat tube cut down along with the rear mudguard.
Frame brace from seat tube to tank,just below the head stock.
Rear swingarm removed and mounting modified to fit the new stronger braced box section swing arm.
New, adjustable rear shocks.
1 off footrest hangers and mountings with new pegs.
Paint stripped and frame resprayed in Satin black.
Tank was cleaned of rust and a new petcock fitted.

Wheels:
Front wheel- Kawasaki KX80 spoked. Disc removed for weight saving. New SKF bearings
Rear wheel- Puch standard stripped and resprayed Silver. New SKF bearings New brake shoes.
Tyres:
Michelin M45 brand new tyres, 10 miles use with new HD tubes.
Seat unit:
Puchshop Mk1 racing seat unit in fibreglass. Sprayed satin black.

Handlebars and controls:
33mm clip ons with igntion cut out and engine stop.1/4 turn throttle. New renthal grips. Rear brake lever with new cable .
Kosso digital rev counter mounted on top yoke.

Engine:
Total strip down and clean of the cases.
Case throat bored out to fit the Gilardoni 74cc cylinder kit. The best available with reed valve intake. New piston and rings. Rings gapped to suit bore-(0.127mm/0.005") Cases port matched to the barrel.Stage 2 porting and polishing done. New studs and nuts used.
Brand new Rito full circle crankshaft used with new SKF bearings. New circlips and oil seals used throughout.
New PVL ignition and coil and set up at 8 BTDC. Made the most power at this setting. Carbonfibre ignition cover.
Brand new HK Kevlar race clutch. Fully locked at 8000rpm.
New kickstart spring and holder components fitted.
New HD chain with new sprockets. Currently 17T front and 36T rear.
A 16 and 18T front sprocket will come with the bike. I would use a 14 or 15T front if I was to use this for sprinting (or the road).
New stainless caphead bolts used throughout.
Engine was run in on the dyno with fresh Castrol fully synthetic transmission oil used
Running superunleaded 40:1 on Castrol A747 2 stroke oil premixed.
Modifed and matched intake with a new Mikuni TM24 flatslide carb.
Exhaust is a Homoet P8 which comes into the powerband at approximately 8000-11000revs. Apparently it sounds awesome when it comes on the pipe.
This engine got faster as it 'loosened' up. It does not make full power till 10,000 revs.
It does need abit more tunning to help the midrange pull abit harder,probably needs a less agressive slide in the carb.
Bad bit:
The steering damper bracket hits the front of the seat/tank unit and has marked the paint. See pic 10. It only hits on full lock.
