2 GROUPS OF 3 DUCKLINGS - 2 FEMALES AND 1 MALE IN EACH GROUP (1ST NEW OWNERS TO VISIT WILL DECIDE WHICH 3 THEY PREFER THE REMAINING 3 ARE THE LAST 3
Ducklings have their 1st adult feathers which are brown and white with beautiful markings they are now eating growers and defrosted garden peas and dried mealworms as a treat they don't need a pond but do need a large tub filled with freshwater each day and low enough for them to was their heads in each day this needs to be separate to their drinking water (at our allotment with our other ducks we purchased 2 childrens hard plastic paddling pools from argos 2 for £15 this is ideal for the ducklings instead of a tub). The ducklings are used to humans and some will eat out of your hands but all have a lovely and friendly temperament. Girls have started developing their quack.
By no means am I an expert but from experience I thought some information that we weren't aware of at first may help first time duck owners.......
A small group can only include 1 drake with how ever many females however if you had at a larger number of girls you could try and introduce another male (drake) introducing a drake when you already have 1 with a few girls will mean the boys fight and can result in a tragic ending, a drake with a girl doesn't mean you will have lots of chicks remember to take away the eggs each day when they start laying if she gets broody and does insist on nesting you can buy rubber eggs for this purpose to replace with the eggs each day. When buying chicken layers for your ducklings I recommend you buy layers which are free from anticoagulants and other additives ducklings until about 5 months eat twice as much as what a chicken of a similar age would therefore the ducklings will overdose on the additives etc and can eventually poison them any chicken layers can be fed to them when their eating has settled around the 5 month age.
No time wasters please
The ducklings are free range and were born in our garden and were being raised by their mum the time is ideal to detach them from her, the 11 ducklings have started to wander around as a flock without their mum and their independence is growing each day.
If you don't have anything to transport them in please let me know and I will arrange this for you. PLEASE TEXT OR EMAIL FOR MORE INFORMATION
