17.2 hands - 11yo Irish Sports Horse, Bay Gelding

This is a rare opportunity to Loan an extremely handsome horse as a companion / family friend.

Dude is a lovely character who has been there and got the T-shirt. In his not so former life he was a successful show jumper and wow does he look the part.

He has been ridden by top jockeys including the Whittaker's and jumped in different countries, not many people can say they own something that has been so honored!

Sadly Dude endured a leg injury in 2013 which unfortunately means he cannot be ridden anymore and he has subsequently been freeze marked loss of use. He chipped a bone at the back of the knee in his left fore which is causing him to weight bear on his right fore - straining the suspensory ligament.

Even if he came sound for a short period of time, we were told the suspensory ligament will always be compensating the bone chip so he won't be 100% sound for long periods.

He is currently happily turned out & not medicated and with good management, will never need to be.

This is a genuinely sad time for us as Dude was my forever horse; however we don't have the land to keep such a beautiful horse that cannot be ridden.

We are now searching for a lovely companion home for Dude, so if you are looking for an extremely handsome horse to be your friend / keep other horses company he's your man!

Finding the right home is very important to us for this exceptional horse. Please NO dealers or inexperienced people thinking they can acquire a horse for nothing and be able to ride him after a short period of rest.

After meeting him, if you are interested, homes would be vetted and good references required.

Apologies if this sound excessive but over the last few weeks we have been inundated with Traders, people just wanting him 'dropped off' and inexperienced people thinking they can obtain a free horse who could shortly be brought back into work & jump again.

Dude needs an experienced home, where he can recuperate and allow him time to recover to see whether he can be brought back into light work.
