Heartbreaking Rehome Male German Shepherd in Cupar

£475

After a lot of soul searching we have made the gut wrenching decision to rehome this absolutely gorgeous and extremely loving boy.

Due to my deteriorating health and restricted mobility, our boy hasn't been getting the exercise, play or attention that he needs. He's such a big sook and loves his cuddles but due to my extended hospital stays and appointments he's left on his own more and more. We haven't wanted to part with him, but our selfishness isn't fair on him.

He will not go to just anybody, so please expect questions and 'vetting'!

He is a nervous/anxious boy, who is extremely reactive. He needs an experienced and firm handler when out and he's particularly reactive to other male dogs. His recall is reasonably good, however if he sees another dog he will bolt towards them and often can't be recalled. He pulls on the lead more and more now, but I believe this will improve when he starts getting out regularly again. It is important that his new owners are experienced, preferably with German Shepherds.

Like all German Shepherds he's extremely vocal and serves as a super guard dog, however his bark is LITERALLY worse than his bite, he's more likely to snuggle you to death than anything else.

He's been brought up with cats/kittens, and has been around babies and young children, he can get boisterous in play but has never bitten, growled or snapped.
He has a sensitive tummy so can't really have too many extra treats, he eats dried food and sometimes gets treats of cooked chicken or ham.

He is 3 years old, chipped, fully vaccinated, wormed and de-flead and is not neutered. After several consults with our vets it was decided it would be better not to have him neutered due to his anxiety, the loss of testosterone could potentially make him even more anxious and flighty. He will require some work and effort put into his training, please be sure this is something you can commit to.

More information can be shared when we find the right family for him.
It's important that he goes to a new permanent home which is why we've put the price that we have. A donation will be made to our local rescue. We would also like to keep in touch with his new family - please be aware of this and make sure this is something you can accommodate before contacting us.
