Children's charity Action for Children are looking for thrill-seekers to abseil down one of the UK's iconic buildings, the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.

Action for Children works in local communities across the UK to make a real and lasting difference for disadvantaged children as they grow up. We exist to make their lives better: now, tomorrow and every day.

For more than 145 years, we've made growing up safer. We help children at different stages of their lives. We care about each child and every family. We treat everyone as an individual and give people the support they really need.

80% of the UK's population live or work within 10 miles of an Action for Children project. This includes Wessex Fostering in Fareham. Wessex Fostering continuously aims to provide safe, secure and stable family placements within the community so that young people can experience a positive model of life for the future. Wessex provides long-term and short-term placements, and preventative intervention and direct alternatives to custody.

All of the Action for Children staff, as well as foster carers, are focused on supporting young people to succeed and do well while they are in their foster placements, with a view to inspiring them to have high aspirations for themselves for the future, alongside acquiring practical day to day skills and feeling a sense of achievement.

The Emirates Spinnaker Tower Abseil is a popular challenge event, various dates are available from April to August 2017. You have the flexibility to choose your own date, or organise a group fundraiser and abseil together, as part of an Action for Children team. The registration fee is £90, but no minimum sponsorship levels.

All participants will receive support from their local fundraiser, a fundraising pack, a charity t-shirt and other materials.
