Nursery Nurse - Welwyn Garden City

12,000 - 16,000 per annum - negotiable depending on experience
Hours 47.5 per week Monday-Friday (7.30am-6pm or 8am-6.30pm)

An exciting opportunity for a qualified Nursery Nurse at Playschool Nursery

Candidates must be a Qualified Nursery Nurse, with NVQ level 3 or equivalent. You must have a strong affinity with children and be passionate about a career in childcare. You should be able to work effectively in a team and have experience of working with children. Duties will include caring for key children and planning for the EYFS.

Job Summary

To work as a member of the Nursery team to ensure that all children receive the highest possible quality of care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs.
Tasks and Responsibilities
To be responsible for the care and safety of the children
To assist in providing that all personal, physical, social, spiritual, emotional, cultural and moral needs are adequately addressed for each child
To work with the Nursery team to plan appropriately for children's learning and development using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance and to maintain accurate and effective children's records
To ensure that staff understand, and when necessary follow, Child Protection Procedures
To ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with
To work with the Nursery Manager and inspectors during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations
To undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the Nursery
To work as a team with other staff members and offer support and mentoring to students
To be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals etc.
To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Nursery Director/s
To ensure the company's policies on diversity and equal opportunities is followed at all times
To adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures
To be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g. fire precautions, security, dropping off and collection of children
To operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the bedding and nappy changing area and food surface areas
To maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times

Key Skills

Essential:

A Childcare and Education qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3
Experience of working with children aged from 0-5years
A sound knowledge of child development for children from birth to five years
An understanding of the EYFS curriculum
Knowledge of Child Protection procedures
An organised and methodical approach to work
Good written and verbal communication skills
An affinity with young children

Desirable:

A current First Aid at Work Qualification
A knowledge of research related to childcare and education

Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced DBS disclosure, costs of which will be met by employer.
