Job Title - Transition Camp Coach
Summer Holiday position
Between 2 and 6 week contract dependent on availability
Starting Monday 20th July through to Friday 28th August 2015
Positions available in London, Greater London and various other locations across the UK.

Let Me Play is a sports, education and outreach organisation that specifically works with young people. Established in 2004, Let Me Play started off as a specialist residential sports camp organisation but through rapid growth and diversification, Let Me Play now provide coaching and teaching programmes for schools and colleges, deliver on government-funded projects and operate NEET Education Centres in London.

The Programme

This summer, Let Me Play are delivering Summer School Programmes for year 6 students going into year 7 across the UK.

The programmes are one or two weeks long, taking place in the summer holidays at chosen secondary schools. The aim of the programme is to ease students into secondary school life, so that attendance and attainment are raised. We do this by delivering a fun, educational and an active programme to increase self-esteem and confidence and decrease anxiety about starting "big school".


Key Tasks:

1.Teaching
a.Using a detailed curriculum plan provided, you will need to deliver basic numeracy and literacy sessions to students in fun based workshops
b.Deliver a range of workshops to students that are relevant to secondary school and learning outcomes of the programme.

2.Activity delivery
a.Planning and delivery of team-building games, fun activities and arts and crafts.
b.Delivery of sports and dance/drama/arts based workshops depending on individual expertise/experience.

3.Assessment & reports
a.Monitoring and reporting on whole group and individual progress and needs including measuring self-esteem and reporting on development in week.
b.Making records and writing reports on the personal and social needs of students.

4.Discipline & Health & Safety
a.Maintaining good order and discipline among students and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.

5.Other Activities
a.Promoting the progress and well-being of individuals and classes.
b.Providing guidance on educational and social matters.
c.Participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes above.
d.Being a role model and mentor at all times


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualified teacher status (desirable)
University degree
Excellent communication skills
Good level of English
Totally RELIABLE
Enthusiastic and motivated
Experience of working with young people
A passion for teaching and coaching
Leadership & management skills
Commitment to raising standards
Good ICT Skills
Evidence of being able to build and sustain effective working relationships with staff, parents and the wider community
