Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a chef to be part of our dedicated kitchen team, working in a professional, friendly and busy environment. At Rafiq Catering Ltd, our chefs are the reason our customers leave with a smile on their face.
We are looking for creative chefs with ambition who are innovative with their dishes and have a good level of culinary skills. The hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen service is what you should thrive on and be able to manage time well in a fast-paced environment. As part of the role, we will help you to develop your management skills so you are able to continue progressing with the business.

Duties
Supervise and manage the kitchen stations
Be able to work in a busy environment
Ensure and check that supplies are properly used and accounted for to prevent wastage and loss and to keep within budget limit
Ensure quality and consistency of food during all stages of production;
Lead by example and uphold professional standards, at all times, providing a source of knowledge and inspiration to all kitchen staff; and
Provide training to junior staff
Responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen service in the absence of the Head Chef
Be able to plan, prepare and create new menu dishes to excite our customers
Ensure the team is working in a safe environment
oComply with and ensure all relevant hygiene, health and safety standards are maintained within the kitchen

Requirements
Mandatory
5 years' experience working in a similar position
Expertise of the Indo-Chinese cuisine
Good level of prep and culinary skills
Understanding and knowledge of safer food practice

Desirable
Be able to communicate in English and one of: Hindi, Urdu or Gujarati
Have prior experience of managing a small team within a busy environment

Job Type
Full-time, permanent position.
Due to the nature of the business, you must be able to work unsociable hours which include early mornings and weekends.
