An opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading Farms applicants must have;
the ability to do hard physical work
practical skills and technical knowledge
awareness of health and safety
communication skills and the ability to follow instructions
reliability, responsibility and motivation
A willingness to work flexibly.
laying and trimming hedges
digging and maintaining ditches
Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand.
Dig and plant seeds, or transplant seedlings by hand
Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.
Ploughing fields, sowing seeds, spreading fertilizer, crop spraying and harvesting
Entry requirements
You do not need any particular qualifications to become a farm worker but it helps to have an interest in farming and working outdoors. Experience of working on a farm is essential for example dairy work or crop picking would be useful.
Although not essential, you could take a course at an agricultural college to prepare for work in this industry. Courses include:
Level 1 Award/Certificate in Practical Farm Animal Care Skills
Level 2 Extended Certificate in Agriculture
Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture.
