The village is only a few kilometers from the Greek border, it has not been officially declared an architectural reserve, but with the preserved Bubar stone houses and the oldest church in the Rhodopes, it can rightly be called a reserve. The locals number 110 people and mainly sow tobacco and sesame. They are proud of their 200-year-old church 'St. St. Constantine and Elena' and with the only Mediterranean evergreen tree in Bulgaria of the species Arbutus andrachne, better known among the locals as P roletna kumarka (or Strawberry tree).
