She is offered for long term loan due to unfortunately not having enough time now due to work commitments and I am struggling to ride her the 3 times a week she deserves.. She's fit and ready to go, and has been ridden 3 times a week for over 2 years with me.
This lovely lovely mare is in need of a barefoot, natural home with a very experienced, calm and considerate rider. Would suit a natural horsemanship home, hacking home. Not to be schooled.
Peggy came to me in a poor state mentally and physically just over 2 years ago. In this time I have slowly re-habilitated her. We have done fun rides, gone on holiday, ridden over the moors and Quantock hills, hacked all over Dartmoor and generally had a great time.
Peggy is mostly a dope on a rope, and is very mannerly to handle and lead everywhere although being a mare, occasionally has a day when she voices her opinion.
She also needs to be sedated for teeth and clipping ( I am willing to fund the sedation for this ) and she needs female barefoot trimmer to be able to do her feet properly due to her being beaten in a previous home and wary of farriers . Now she stands calmly, but may need to gain trust again with another trimmer. She can not be shod.

Peggy loads first time and travels really well although sweats a tiny bit if she is alone so prefers company. She boxes out frequently in a trailer. She has lived alone with me in a field 24/7 but will live with others. I would not want her stabled at all.

Peggy is GREAT fun to ride alone or in company and in all traffic. She is either a complete plod, you can stop and chat to people in their gardens, stop for lunch at the pub...or Peggy is really bouncy and fast ! Its at times like this you have to sit still with loose reins and just let her walk it off. She hasn't ever bucked or reared, or span, but gets very very quick when something sets her off although is mannerly and does listen to the rider.. Nothing you can't handle if you sit quietly with light hands and she will settle again afterwards. But as she is so quick, narrow and whippy, she would un nerve a rider who isn't very experienced.

A Perfect home would be a hacking/fun ride/weekends away !
No kids please. Really kind loving pony and she is great to hug and lay with in the paddock in the sun. She means the world to me.
If there may be someone out there who can offer her a long term loan home..get in touch. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy riding her.

All tack, rugs and made to measure saddle will go with her and If she goes locally, all saddle checks will be included in the loan agreement.
