Victorian, Vintage or Antique Peat cutting tool by Fussells of Mells.
The makers mark is a little unclear but I am sure it is Fussells of Mells who manufactured agricultural tools from 1744 up to late Victorian times.
Condition is Used. Looks to be blacksmith made. Quite a heavy piece.
The blade has been bead blasted and metal coated to prolong its life indefinitely. It now just needs a coat of matt black paint to finish it off.
(Rustins would be a good choice)
The tool is solid although the wooden handle has had some woodworm. It has been soaked in Cuprinol 5 star complete wood preserver so is now stable.
IMPORTANT - Too large and heavy for Royal Mail so I have costed for MyHermes at £6.50 but would prefer cash on collection near John Lewis Poole BH12 1DN
