Description:

Improvisation, or 'improv', is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up spontaneously.

We are based in the Drama Room Edgware Library and meet fortnightly on Saturdays from 3 to 5pm.

There are no lines to rehearse and is highly creative. No acting skills are required.

Studies have shown that the skills of improvisation can help with better management of unexpected changes and uncertainty. It improves collaboration, builds confidence, and increases the ability to absorb new ideas. It is highly recommended for 'well-being'. Our Improv Sessions will be for people of all abilities, whether beginner or experienced. We will explain the rules of Improv and will support each person to bring their creativity out. We will use a variety of easy games as a way of being creative.

Our ground rules will be:
a) Be Spontaneous
b) Making mistakes is OK (and where learning and comedy happens)
c) Go with the Flow - Say "Yes and...."
d) Respect other people's boundaries

We will have some warm up exercises (e.g. alphabet game, mirroring, exaggeration circle) followed by some Improv games (e.g. freeze tag, gibberish, party endowment, two headed experts). Each Improv sessions will have a theme and will last for 2 hours. Afterwards we will head to a nearby cafe' for a drink or bite.

We are based in a lovely 'drama' room at Edgware Library - a 5 min walk from Edgware Underground and Bus Station.

Beginners and the experienced welcome. Be prepared for spontaneity, silliness and laughter. You will need to be come with an open mind.
