Wilkinson Elizabeth II British Royal Navy Naval Officers Sword, Scabbard & Knot in South Molton

£695

Description:

a scarce Wilkinson ERII Queen Elizabeth II. Includes a regulation knot and wax cloth bag ( locking strap on wax bag is snapped )

This dates from the 1980's and does not have a serial number due to it being part of a MOD commisioned order

This has been refurbished before and had the nickel plating re done (there are a couple of small nicks in plating)
The hilts plating is a little dull and the ray skin grip shows some wear.
Scabbard is in excellent near mint condition

As currently carried by Royal Navy Officers of the Commonwealth; United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada etc.

The 24 carat Gold plated hilt has queens crowned fouled anchor, rayskin bound grip with gold wire binding and the pommel is in the form of a lions head. Hilt features a hinged clasp that locks on to the top mount of the scabbard. The scabbard is of 3 part construction with wood leather and 24 carat gold plated mounts and rings for attaching to a officers belt.

This current pattern was implemented in 1929 and is light, single-edged and straight. Possessed mainly by RN Commissioned Officers, It is distinguished by a gold-plated hilt, a surreal white fish-skin grip and a pommel created in the form of a lion. The Royal Navy 1929P is renowned for a unique mechanism that has often proved to be a life-saver during difficult times. Adding more exclusivity is the inner side of the guard which is hinged so that it can be folded down to connect with a pin on the scabbard top mount. The scabbard has been immaculately manufactured using rawhide with gold-plated brass mounts
