Description:

F N Herstal 16 Bore side lock Ejector quality shotgun (parent company of Browning) Belgium .
The shotgun was manufactured by F.N. Factory in Herstal, Belgium in the 1920s early 30s I think. Early serial number 13423 and could be researched? FN Herstal are the parent company of the Browning company this gun is of the quality you expect in this pedigree.

Fabrique Nationale D'Armes De Guerre top rib (National Factory of Herstal)
It's got 27 5/8 inch barrel length top rib is 28 1/16. Side lock ejector, double trigger.
Stock length is 14 inches to first trigger orientation right handed (almost straight very small cast).
I use the gun at 14 " myself with the slip on pad (absorb-all) that would go with her.
Weight is just 6 lbs 5 ounces (2.875 Kg).

Blueing is good and re-blueing is (about 30+ years old) the barrels are very good.
Stock is worn and has not been refinished, would benefit from a light clean up and oiling of the stock after some light sharpening of the checkering perhaps? I have always resisted the temptation to sharpen it, the wood has a pleasing grain that should come out more.

It's a local (Cumbria) gun originally one of a pair from a local Estate owner I understand, I would term it as an honest nice to use gun, light, and almost automatic for point ability, to the right owner and a little fitting it could be a forever gun as intended for me. With good ammunition its giving a good pattern and hits birds or clays hard at very good range.
(I found a note in my old ammunition book that suggests I or someone had it measured the barrels as: R: 0.653 choke, L: 0.644 choke Whilst I have no gauges now to confirm this, I suspect it should be correct.)

I am only selling due to serious illness (cancer) forces the sale soon this is my last gun to go and is the hardest to let go.
Asking price will include any ammunition left if collected and a very robust traveling box.

I had the gun insured for £1500 myself as the last one made this price a few years back I had thought about getting it as a matched pair it was very near my numbers apart, £1000 or more in to-days market on a private sale I expect, this is offered at just £800.00 or lets talk.

Shot Gun Certificate is needed to purchase this gun in Carlisle.
It can be shipped after cleared bank payment to a registered firearms dealer except the ammunition as Royal Mail do not ship them.

Her travel box is ply wood construction, tested for crush safe, size is 31"x11 "X3.1/4" and has looked after her on days out for 30 years.
