Designed by Eddie Van Halen after he switched from using Marshall Plexis for many years.

This is a very good example of this well respected and versatile amp with rare (because often mislaid) foot switch. I also have a photocopy of the user's manual. The Peavey 6505 is the successor to this model.

Houses 2 x 12 inch speakers that throw out an earsplitting noise that appears much louder than the rated 60 watts. Yet it is capable of delivering anything from beautiful chimey clean tones to devastatingly heavy distorted noise!

The control panel is very easy to navigate being split into 2 channels (rhythm - clean and lead - dirty). Both channels have a pre and post volume control and a master equalization (low - bass, mid - middle and high - treble). Apart from that there is a master control for reverb, presence and resonance. On the footswitch there's one button for channel select and one for turning the reverb on and off and that's all you get. It's as simple as that.

The only slight imperfections are a couple of scratches on the control panel and the usual scuffs (no rips or tears) which you can see in the pictures, but they're just aesthetic imperfections, and the rest of the amp is in top condition.

It was gigged about a dozen times pre 2007 when the valves were replaced and since then it has lived in my practice room. During the last 11 years it has been fired up a couple of times a year to blow the cobwebs off (!) including yesterday when it sounded as good as ever and never missed a beat!

Only selling as it doesn't get the use it deserves anymore - I've hung onto it this long like I've tried to hang onto my youth but now is the time to let it go!

For further references to the 5150 combo check out the man himself, listen to any of the late era Van Halen stuff to hear what the amp is capable of, although I can't promise that it'll make you play more like EVH!!!
