The Citroen Xsara Picasso is a superb, mid-sized family MPV that can easily carry five adults and luggage in comfort. The interior is extremely light and spacious thanks to: large windows, the addition of front quarter lights, a delightful velour upholstery and the open design inside the car. The dashboard is stylish and minimalistic, sweeping curves and the central instrument binnacle reminding you of the cars French styling origins. The driving position is raised, helping to give you a good view of the road around. With light steering and gear change, the Picasso is a doddle to drive around town and on the motorway alike. This is enhanced by the superb 1.6 litre HDi diesel engine. It provides outstanding economy for a car of this size (a combined of 55 mpg), without needing to be overworked thanks to the plentiful supply of power (92 bhp). However, it still only costs £135 to tax, perfect for keeping the pennies in the pocket. The outside has dramatic, modern styling adding a certain joie de vivre to the car, especially finished in this lovely silver paint.
