Description:

Brian James Used Bantam Transporter Trailer T-002

A good condition braked Brian James Bantam Car trailer designed for smart car or other micro cars, ideal for behind a motorhome / campervan. Comes with stowable aluminium ramps, fitted lights and mudguards, spare wheel (with new tyre), winch, jockey wheel, rear steadies, vehicle hold down straps, Alko hitch and a Maypole Strongbox hitch lock.

The trailer is rated at 1000 Kgs gross weight.

The trailer was used to tow my Smart Car behind my VW Campervan. I recently sold my Campervan and purchased a caravan, so no longer have a need for the trailer. It is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced.
Maypole Strongbox Hitch Lock
The trailer comes with an insurance approved Maypole Strongbox Hitch Lock, a high security lock with anti-drill feature and anti-prising lip. A plastic storage case is included for when not in use.

Reason you may want to tow a Smart Car behind your Motorhome
If you have a Motorhome / Campervan you know once you settle into a campsite, get out the barbeque and you realise you forgot to bring the charcoal that its not as simple as jump in the car and pop down the road to pick some up. But now, in this moment, the Motorhome / Campervan becomes a burden. A quick run to the store isn't so quick, when you have to re-pack all your cargo, and take a drive into a small village and struggle to find a parking space large enough to park in.
So, towing a small car behind your Motorhomes / Campervans can make these little errands so much easier.

Legalities around towing a small car behind a Motorhome
It is generally viewed that the safest method is to use a purpose designed trailer to tow your car. There are devices known as A-frames which allow a car to be towed directly and the manufacturers of these devices will assure users that they are legal, however the Department for Transport have provided a guidance on the subject of "A-frames and dollies". The use of A-frames may not be permitted by local legislation in some European countries, this is another good reason to use a purpose designed trailer.
