Claudi is a laidback confident puppy from a litter of seven Schapendoes (aka Dutch Sheepdogs) born in February. Schapendoes are related to Old English Sheepdogs, as well as Bearded Collies and Briards. Claudi is a rare breed in the UK, being one of only 39 in the country. Because of the low numbers they aren't a recognised breed by the Kennel Club, but we supply all our puppies with Dutch Kennel Club pedigree certificates. We are the only breeders of Schapendoes in the UK.
Dutch Sheepdogs are a medium sized active and intelligent breed. Like Old English Sheepdogs they have long coats that need regular brushing. Their coats don't need to be clipped as a well maintained coat will protect them from the heat as well as the cold. They don't moult, but will shed wisps of fur.
Schapendoes are not on the go all the time, they love human interaction and games (or even agility, given the right training) but are also happy to relax when you are relaxing. Mental stimulation is important as they are intelligent dogs.
Claudi lives with her mum and dad, as well as 2 other adult dogs. We have decided to keep a puppy from the litter too as this is our third and final litter. Claudi is incredibly laidback for a puppy, she has taken most things in her stride well including her trip to the vet for vaccinations and dna swabs for her pedigree certificate (she slept through most of the experience) and she's been on a couple of car journeys too. She will make a great addition to a multi pet household (we have a cat too) or a loving family. Read more
