Variatus Platys - Temperate Fish - Free To Collect in Liverpool
Description:
Easy to keep - an ideal choice for the beginner and a good alternative to goldfish species which always outgrow their tanks. I have a mixture of large fry and adolescents which need new homes as I am looking to reduce the fish load in my planted tank. Free to collect from the Bootle area of Liverpool.
- They prefer mild temperatures between 18-22 celcius. Best kept in an unheated tank which is situated in a centrally heated living area (not a tropical heated tank, which is too hot for them).
- Will reach between 5-7cm once fully grown, minimum tank size should be at least 40 litres which would give room for any breeding which occurs or to add other tankmates.
- Good tank mates include Zebra Danios, White Cloud Mountain Minnows and Peppered Corydoras Catfish. NOT suitable to live with coldwater fish such as Goldfish.
- Will eat most tropical flake foods but also benefit from occasional frozen bloodworms, mosquito larvae and daphnia to keep their colours looking vibrant.
