Course descriptionWatercolour Skills & Techniques (Mixed Level): This course is very good for students wishing to start painting with watercolours or those wishing to improve their watercolour painting in both traditional and none traditional ways. You will explore different ways of painting and drawing through using water based media on paper, critically looking at various ideas and concepts that are used to create still life's, landscapes and general sceneries both observed and imagined.Additional entry requirements

The course is structured in a flexible manner and can accommodate all skill levels from absolute beginners to advanced students. It is aimed at anyone who is interested in learning about the beauty and various techniques of painting with watercolours. No previous knowledge/qualifications are required but some drawing experience will be very useful.

Tutor for this course is: Neil Pittaway NEAC RWS RE: Studied Fine Art at the Royal Academy Schools, London, Member of the New English Art Club (NEAC), Royal Watercolour Society (RWS), the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) and Associate Member of the Alpine Club, London.

Neil was born in Wakefield Yorkshire in 1973. He completed an Honours Degree at Cheltenham School of Art in 1996 and went on to study at Post-Graduate level completing first an MA in Printmaking with Distinction from the University of Bradford in 1998, a three year Royal Academy of Arts Post-Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts at the Royal Academy Schools in London (1998-2001) and finally in 2004 gaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Neil is a member of both the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE).

Neil's work is represented in numerous public and private collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, The Guild Hall Art Library in London, St. Paul's Cathedral Library, The Arts Club, Mayfair and Her Majesty The Queen Royal Collection. Neil was commissioned to paint a commemorative painting of D.H.Lawrence his life and the places that had inspired his writings. Later he was commissioned by Enitharmon Press, London to illustrate an Anthology of London in Poetry and Prose this included poems by Benjamin Zephaniah and William Blake.

Neil has contributed to TV and radio programmes including 'The Great Artists' series for Channel 5 TV and BBC Radio Norfolk and a collaborative DVD film on representations of the Eden Project, Cornwall. He has won some 17 Awards for his work these include; the Royal Academy of Arts, British Institution Prizes for both Drawing and Printmaking, The Ashmolean Museum Vivienne Leigh Bequest Award, The London Arts Club Excellence in Drawing Award.

City Architecture, landscape, travel, discovery, the enlightenment, Gothic revival, satire and historical narratives shape and inform the complex agoraphobic labyrinth of ideas and visual images that are typical of Neil's drawn and printed works.
