About Four Crosses

The Four Crosses in Cannock Chase, was originally built in 1636 and in the building used shipping timbers which date back hundreds of years!! Quite a few secret passages have been discovered here throughout the years. There have been several findings in this building and perhaps the most astonishing one has been the Old Coachman's uniform which has been preserved for over 150 years behind the chimney.
There have been many reports of deaths here over the years! The most recent death happened in the 1980s when a young boy ran out into the road just outside and was killed instantly. Another story is that of a young baby who died after falling from a table in the upper bar area in the 1800s. There are also many reports of suicides in the building over the years as well.
With everything that has happened here it is no wonder this location is so haunted

Paranormal Activity

There are several reports of paranormal experiences at The Four Crosses. Many of which have been reported by both staff and visitors regularly. Glasses smashing, unexplained footsteps and the apparition of young girl which a member of staff was so shaken up after an encounter with her she quit her job not long after the capture!
The most active area of the pub is the Ladies' toilets.
The sounds of children crying and shadowy figures are often seen both day and night as well as heavy candlesticks being moved!
Other reports include the apparition of a soldier in the men's toilets and pianos playing by themselves!!
