LEEP1 is a self-advocacy project supporting learning disabled adults to speak up in the community and allow them to run activities designed for and behalf of them. It runs a busy 5 day a week programme of activities led by the people who use the service.
AND is a casual wear clothing company with social purpose. Our mission is to support learning disabled adults to achieve the skills, confidence and knowledge to gain employment and lead active rewarding lives.
We will produce a unique clothing line featuring original artwork and slogans designed by adults with learning disabilities. The brand AND stands for Abilities Not Disabilities and the focus is also to promote a positive message about the achievements and abilities of disabled people, to redefine disability and public misconceptions, tackle stigma and raise awareness.
The collection is priced to be affordable to appeal to a wider customer base but without compromising on quality. AND will sell a range of custom printed Hoodies, Sweatshirts, T shirts and Accessories in bright fun colours with a special bespoke range of accessories that have been screen printed by hand by adults with learning disabilities at a more premium price.
You must be able to:
Plan, organise, and facilitate groups.
Co- produce one-page profiles with Members (a one-page accessible picture which covers likes/ dislikes medication needs etc.)
Promote of the AND clothing and its ethos through events e.g. stalls, websites, social media, creating leaflets
Support and understand each individual service users' needs and how LEEP1 can help them to meet these
Regularly support service users to produce artwork for the AND clothing line.
The role is based at our cafe on Roundhay Road on the outskirts of the City Centre.
