Damian aged 15 is a delightful young man, who is extremely close to his parents and two younger siblings. He enjoys watching his favourite TV shows, going in his sensory room, going for walks and sensory play.

Damian likes good consistent routines and care being provided by those that clearly understand his needs. He has Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy which affects all four limbs. He is dependent on carers for all of his needs. Damian has non-verbal communication and uses smiles and expression to communicate his feelings. He requires 2:1 care in the day and one carer at night. Damian has his meals and medication via gastrostomy, his diet is very important so set recipes with calorific values are all calculated. He can be unpredictable with his health needs, so carers need to work on initiative and feel confident getting to know him.

As his support worker, you will respond sensitively and appropriately to his needs and emotions and work co-cooperatively with his Mother and Team Leader. Ideally you will have experience in physical disabilities and seizure management along with PEG feeding and administration of medication. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion. Shadow shifts will be completed until the carer and client feel confident.
