The Golden Fleece is an old Thames Barge moored along the foreshore in the stunning location of Pin Mill on the picturess River Orwell, Ipswich. The barge is an ongoing houseboat project on a secure residential mooring and is accessed along the National Trust woodland path. It has its own private jetty and importantly a very large mooring of which there are no mooring charges, quite unique for this day and age. Council tax is payable at band A.

Accommodation comprises of a toilet/shower room, galley, double and single bedrooms, sitting room with large window looking out over the estuary and a glass conservatory which incorporates views of the woods at the back and view of the mooring and estuary at the front. It's very relaxing especially when the tide comes in.

The barge is heated with either oil fired radiators or electric convector heaters. Both water and electric are connected and phone and internet can be supplied and connected if so required. The mooring is surrounded and adjoins the beautiful idyllic and tranquil National Trust reserve at Pin Mill with endless woodland and riverside heath walks with fantastic views of the estuary. Muntjac deer roam the surrounding woodland and around us are a dazzling array of wild birds and the occasional seal, Egrets, kingfishers, herons which can all be viewed from the barge.

The Golden Fleece is as little as a minute's walk to the famous and renowned Butt & Oyster pub and restaurant. There are local shops in the village of Chelmondiston which is a short walk up the lane where you will be able to buy local produce and essentials etc. Ipswich the main town is a short drive away (8 miles) and has extremely good links to the London and surrounding area's from the main line train station or the coach station located in the centre of town. There is also a local bus service to Ipswich from the top of the lane.

There is no vehicular access or parking at the barges only an unloading area but there is private parking available for vehicles in the resident's car park 2 minutes walk away. Permit from the local council. However, there is a public car park and further parking available a short distance from the barge.

The Golden Fleece is an ongoing project having just had the roof recovered and a repaint. In the coming weeks further work planned is for the decking to be replaced and further painting inside and out with a total upgrade of the toilet/shower room.

If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil place to unwind or hide away from the ever increasing rat race then this could just be the place for you. The barge is an ongoing project with the potential of being a spectacular place to live either full time or part time. Please bare this in mind if viewing. Alternatively, as this is an old wooden barge it would be possible to replace with your own barge as the mooring can easily accommodate this.

I'm looking for serious but sensible offers of above £150000 for the mooring. The barge is livable with some TLC required but this will be completed over the coming weeks. However, the main value is the mooring. You buy to own. Please do some research on moorings at Pin Mill and you will see that they rarely become available so this could be a commodity well worth investing in.
