Description:

I am a final year student studying BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Human Health at the University of Suffolk, carrying out a research project named "5Ad Dietary Protocol for Functional Bowel Disorders".

I am looking for male and female participants who suffer chronically from either constipation, diarrhoea, an alternation of both, bloating, excessive gas, or abdominal pain with no known pathology. Participants do not need to be formally diagnosed with IBS to take part, but must be 18 years old or over, willing to alter their diet for 1-2 weeks, and record various measures of bowel function and gastrointestinal symptoms.

Various dietary approaches exist to help identify food intolerances and assist with symptom relief; the most commonly used being the gluten-free diet and the low FODMAP diet. These approaches have various limitations, including the complexity and confusion associated with following the low FODMAP diet, the unnecessary restriction of foods, and concerns regarding long-term nutritional adequacy, safety, and effectiveness.

Therefore, this study aims to investigate the efficacy of an alternative dietary approach, the 5Ad Dietary Protocol, in reducing gastrointestinal symptoms of those affected. The protocol uses complementary, nutritionally adequate, and all-natural foods, with the intention of finding a permanent solution for symptom relief.

If you are interested in participating in this research, or would like any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your interest.
