Maria is a native Russian speaker from Moscow where she was born and raised and. Apart from her mother tongue, she can also speak English and Italian fluently and has taught all three languages in the past.

- Natively speaks Moscow Russian, one of two official standards in Russia.
- Earned a Linguistics Specialist Degree (Master Equivalent) in Intercultural Communications at the Moscow University for Humanities.
- Earned a diploma and a certificate from Moscow State University to professionally teach Russian as a foreign language.
- Was a Senior Lecturer in Italian at the Moscow State University for the Tourism Industry for five years teaching Italian to Russian students and the Russian language to foreign exchange students.
- Taught English and Italian for two years at a language school in Moscow.
- Taught Russian, Italian and English privately online.
