I'm Paul Hames, an award winning professional photographer and tutor based in Poole, Dorset. I offer tailored 1:1 photography lessons where I travel to you, helping you get a better understanding of your digital camera. After running my own photography school in London for 14 years and teaching over 7,500 people aged 12 to 87, I've now moved to Poole and am ready to share my experience with you.

How it works:

Personalized 2-hour lessons: I come to your home or a caf for about 2 hours. By the end of our session, you'll have the confidence and skills to use your camera in "M" (Manual) mode. The rest is up to you to get out and practice!
Cost: £39 for a 2-hour session, payable by card or cash.
Travel: I charge around £0.40 per mile for travel, but I'm flexible on this.
Group Discounts: The more people in your workshop, the cheaper it gets per person.
Equipment Hire: Cameras and lenses are available for hire--just ask.
Other Courses: I also offer courses in Adobe Photoshop if you're looking to enhance your editing skills.
Will travel to Salisbury, Southampton, Dorchester, Bournemouth, Christchurch and in-between.
All workshops are delivered at your pace and with a smile. We'll start with some theory over a cuppa, then get hands-on with practical exercises. It's about a year's worth of knowledge packed into 2 hours!

About Me:

Welcome! I'm Paul Hames, a professional photographer with over 20 years of experience capturing compelling stories for brands like Nokia, BMW, M&S and Canon cameras. My work in these high-profile campaigns has sharpened my skills in creative direction, visual storytelling, and technical precision.

Beyond my work behind the camera, I'm passionate about teaching. I founded a photography school in London, which became a creative hub for thousands of aspiring photographers to develop their unique artistic voices. I'm currently furthering my expertise in education by pursuing a part-time Master's in Education (PGCHE) at Falmouth University, reinforcing my commitment to making learning accessible and enjoyable for all.
