Hi, my name is Victoria and I'm a qualified primary school teacher currently teaching locally in a year 5/6 class. I am able to offer tuition in primary English and Maths (and other primary subjects if required) and I specialise in the following areas:

~ SATs tuition and preparation: I can tutor on the content throughout the whole of key stage one or key stage two curriculum, particularly with the trickier elements of reading, spelling, grammar and maths from year five and six. In addition, I can help your child with test taking techniques, understanding how and where to score marks and most importantly, boosting their confidence in their abilities.

~11 plus tuition: I can tutor on all content of the 11 plus tests, including the trickier elements of verbal and non-verbal reasoning as well as Maths and English. As above, my tutoring also focuses on test taking techniques and boosting confidence.

~ Maths: I offer tutoring to improve both skills and confidence for any primary school child, no matter their ability or age. I am fully up-to-date in national developments in maths as a subject, such as using Singapore maths techniques to help children learn.

~ English: I can offer tutoring in any aspect of English such as reading, writing, grammar, spelling and phonics. I can offer dyslexia friendly tutoring and help children who struggle with the spelling element of writing. I am fully up-to-date on the national requirements of children's writing and what children would need to include in their writing to meet the age related expectations for their school year.

I will always tailor my tutoring sessions to meet the specific needs of each child as we are all different and everyone learns in a different way. This could include mock tests, going through testing materials together, games and using real life examples to help build understanding but I can adapt my sessions to suit you. My aim is to make sessions fun and productive and I truly believe that building confidence is one of the most important ways to succeed in and out of school.

I charge £20 per hour and I can offer sessions on an ongoing or ad-hoc basis. I can also offer small group sessions for a reduced cost per child. I am available in the evenings from 5:30pm onwards or at any time on the weekends. I can travel to you and cover the areas of Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton and outlying villages. I am also willing to travel further afield such as Torbay, Totnes, Ashburton, Bovey Tracy or Teignmouth areas although the cost would increase slightly due to mileage - please contact me for details. I can also offer tutoring from my own home (Newton Abbot) or online via Skype or Face Time. Again, please contact me and I can discuss this with you.
