We are sadly putting Angus up for sale as he just isn't suited to RDA work but would make someone a great happy hacker. It's such a shame as he's a lovely boy and 90% of the time he's perfect but at RDA we need a horse with a totally unflappable nature which he sadly hasn't got. He would benefit from a one to one home with regular work as the more work he gets the better he is. Our RDA group only ride for 6 months of the year and this means he requires a lot more work in the spring to get him settled back into his work. When we first got him he took a while to settle in and he wasn't a fan of the mounting block and although he's made great progress with us and is fine for an able bodied person he does fidget a bit sometimes which is very unnerving for our riders and can be a bit wary of the equipment we use such as beanbags/ rings etc. He loves being groomed and is fine with sprays etc, he fidgets a bit at first with a hosepipe but soon settles. He's a bit lazy being schooled but its not our thing so I'm sure he would improve with regular schooling. He is good to hack out in company but lacks a bit of confidence on his own. The only thing we have found he doesn't like out hacking is when something big and noisy like tractors or wagons approach from behind he tries to look round and rush but lets them pass ok if he can see it. He is a hardy sort that has lived out all year round with both mares and geldings, snaffle mouthed but he can be a bit strong to lead on a headcollar if there is tasty looking grass nearby but nothing nasty. He is up to date with vaccinations, worming etc and is good for the farrier.
