This custom built '57 Strat was made around 6 years ago. No expense was spared in its construction. The neck is taken from a genuine 1997 Japanese '57 reissue Strat and has the original vintage tuners (cost £175). The body was made by Guitarbuild UK (cost £100) and consists of two-pieces of Alder. It has been spray-painted with nitrocellulose base and two coats of Daphne blue top finish. The pickups were custom-wound by Oil City (currently £190 for a set). All cavities have been lead painted and copper insulated. The pots, switches, wiring and jack-socket are all top-grade. The parts alone would set you back at least £600, if you wanted to build the exact guitar, today. With labour added on top, you would be looking at well over £1,000. This guitar has a superbly vintage sound and vibe.
