Description:

This is a Timberland Destiny motorhome, first registered on 27 November 2007. We bought it in August 2012 and were its second owners. We've had a great 6.1/2 years with it, and are only changing due to an increase in family, meaning that its two berths are now insufficient for us. So sadly, it has to make way for a slightly larger motorhome. This is also a Fiat Ducato van conversion as we find this style to be large enough for comfortable and easy use yet small enough to drive wherever a delivery van can go!

It is built on a Fiat Ducato, is painted in metallic silver, and has a 2287cc diesel engine rated at 120 BHP. It has a manual gearbox. It is fitted with a Thatcham category 1 alarm and immobiliser. It has reversing sensors with audible and visual warnings for the driver. It has a rear view camera and internal mirror as well as large external mirrors. It is fully double glazed (apart from the cab windscreen, which has Remis blinds).

We bought it in August 2012 and were its second owners. We've had a great 6.1/2 years with it, and are only changing due to an increase in family, meaning that its 2 berths are now insufficient for us.

Its MOT expires on 25 April 2020. Its last MOT showed no problems and no advisories. It had a full vehicle service on 26 April 2019 and a full habitation service on 8 May 2018 when a new under-slung LPG tank was also fitted. Generally it has been very reliable, although we had to fit a new alternator in August 2018. It had all new tyres in 2018 which have less than 3000 miles wear on them. We also have two further nearly new tyres which are available to the buyer at no cost.

The vehicle is 5.99m long. It has a rear lounge. The rear lounge seats are 5'10" long and can be used as two single beds. Alternatively, slats pull out to enable the cushions to be arranged as a large double bed.

The kitchen has a large sink, draining board, and new mixer tap. For cooking it has a 4-place hob (3 gas, 1 electric) with a separate grill and oven (both gas). It has a microwave oven with an additional cupboard below it. There is a fold-down additional work surface next to the drainer, and two small fold-down tables in the rear lounge.

In the bathroom there is a Thetford toilet with electric flush. There is a large wash basin, and the tap is on a flexible pipe so that it can also be used as a shower.

It has fresh and waste water tanks of about 80 litres each, their contents being indicated in the motorhome control panel. The fresh water tank has a thermostatic heater for use in freezing weather.

There is a Truma warm thermostatic air heater running on LPG with 2 power levels. There is also a Truma hot water heater which heats water by LPG or electricity for washing or showers which is thermostatically controlled.

There is a large Thetford fridge which runs on LPG (when there's no hook-up available, 230v and 12v (for when driving). It can automatically change between these.

Other features:

There is a large wardrobe and many overhead lockers for storage, around the habitation area and above the cab, fitted with shelves to maximise the usefulness of the space

It has an electrically-operated Thule step which is new. This retracts automatically when the engine is started.

It has a TV socket and powered aerial.

It has an electrically-operated skylight in the lounge area and a manual one in the bathroom.

Tow bar and single electrics.

It has two leisure batteries of 100AHr each.

It has a 100W solar panel which charges both the leisure batteries and the vehicle battery.

There is a table with folding legs which stored behind the driver's seat which is suitable for inside or outside use.

The passenger's cab seat rotates to face into the vehicle when needed.

It has both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

So much for the facts. In use, this is a delightful van which drives well and is in good condition throughout. It has taken us to Scotland, Eire, France, Germany, Spain and Belgium. It has never let us down apart from the odd flat tyre, and has always been comfortable and enjoyable. It has been regularly maintained.

There is an active and very friendly Timberland Owners' Club which meets twice a year for 4-day rallies, issues a quarterly newsletter, and has a valuable online help system for members. Membership is only £5 per year and we presently have over 100 members and 55 vans.
