Worthing Veterans association, Offer support for Former and serving members of Worthing's Armed forces and their families. We hold a Breakfast club on the first Saturday of each month,
at the, TOBY CARVERY DOWNLANDS
UPPER BRIGHTON ROAD, WORTHING, BN14 9JN. At 09.30 till about 11.00.
Where you can catch up with old friends or meet new one's, you can bring your family too. There are no fees or charges, you just pay for your breakfast and drinks.
On the first Monday of each month ( except bank holidays ) at 10:30 till 12:00 ,we hold a drop in service at the Gordon Room, Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing (in the town hall ). Where we offer a safe warm place for all former and serving armed forces personnel in West Sussex, to just come and have a chat and a cuppa and a snack, In a relaxing environment offering, friendship, social support and access to a range of welfare services, as well advocacy on issues relating to veterans and their families.
We also meet socially on most Friday evening at the Rose And Crown, in Montague Street, Worthing, from about 17:00 on.
Apart from this the association has also become central to the organization of events locally for key military dates on the calendar, such as Remembrance sunday, and Armed forces day, with the next event being, The HMS Hood Memorial Day on May 24, followed by the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June and the annual Canadian Memorial service on the seafront in August.
"The association will always welcome new members and there is no fee to join us, but you must be former, full-time, reserve military or have aims that benefit the association."
The informal nature of the get-togethers is welcomed but there is a formal side, too, with military parades and services remembering the fallen.
