Vintage Wooden Metamorphic Folding Library Chair Step Chair. Timeless Classic.

This quirky and useful item has been in my family since it was purchased new in the late 1960's. As it is now surplus to requirements it is being offered in this private sale from my pet, smoke and Covid free home.

The chair easily unfolds and transforms into very stable good strong steps, then can be quickly folded up again and tucked away ready for use as a comfortable extra chair when needed.

The classic timeless design of this sturdy solid wooden piece would look lovely in either a modern or traditional setting.

I do not know what wood it is made from; it has been stained in a mahogany colour - presumably because it is a reproduction of a very clever Victorian piece.

If you so wish it could be painted in a colour of your choice.

There are two strong brass hinges, and a small brass catch on the right hand side - to close when this item is folded down into a chair.

The compact dimensions of this step chair means it is very versatile and could fit in any room around the home. It is handy to use to reach books, ornaments or toys on high shelves, such as in a library, home office, sitting room or bedroom, or storage cupboards in a kitchen, utility room, boot room or hall.

Size of chair (i.e. when folded):
approximately 88.0 cm high x 42.0 cm wide x 42.00 cm deep.

Size of steps (i.e. when unfolded):
approximately 88.0 cm high x 44.0 cm wide x 65.0 cm deep.

This step chair has been lightly used over the years. However, it is showing various signs of wear and marking with some dents and scrapes - commensurate with its age. The wood is a bit rough in places and there are a few visible varnish drips when the chair is unfolded. This item would benefit from re-polishing or re-staining.
