Background

GfK works with over 1500 UK independent retailers which span across many industry sectors.In exchange for retailers sharing their sales data GfK provide them with valuable market insight to help them grow their business. The information provided is then used alongside the multiple retailers' data to extrapolate for the total GfK reported market which is sold and reported to manufacturers. The GfK Field Team is responsible for maintaining the relationship between GfK and the independent retailers.

Summary of role

The Data Collection Executive is responsible for collecting accurate and timely sales data from independent retailers. Sales information is obtained from retailers via a monthly store visit and manual audit of their remaining stock and purchase invoices. This information is recorded using in-house software and a tablet Personal Computer.

In addition to collecting information from the independent retailers, the successful candidate will also have the responsibility for the servicing of clients, providing valuable market insight by interpreting GfK reports and providing clear recommendations.

This role offers a degree of flexibility around the scheduled work. The tasks will be set by the line manager, however the successful candidate will participate in creating the monthly schedules.

Main Responsibilities

Collecting sales data from independent retailers via a stock-take methodology and using in-house software on a tablet Personal Computer. Data will be collected to strict schedules and highest quality standards, any collection issues must be immediately reported to the head office

Take delivery ownership of electronically transmitted sales data from independent retailers which do not require a store visit. This will require chasing retailers for information which has not been received according to the GfK delivery schedule

Servicing independent retailers by presenting market trends and GfK reports. Building long term relationships with assigned retailers. It will be expected that the GfK image is promoted at all times and prompt and clear answers are given to client queries.

Maintaining accurate retailer information on the retailer database

Complete administrative tasks accurately and to the agreed schedule

General and Technical Skills

Client service skills with a proven ability to develop and build long-term relationships

Excellent time management - well organized with the ability to manage own workload

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Excel and Word) would be an advantage

High quality standards are key to this individual

Additional Information

The successful candidate will need to travel within a certain territory, business mileage in line with AA guidelines is paid (varies depending on vehicle). The job holder will need to hold a clean driving licence and be a car owner. IT equipment will be supplied as necessary.

The Job holder must be willing to occasionally travel to head office in Woking, Surrey or London. This may involve an overnight stay.

Other Responsibilities

Other responsibilities may be allocated by the line manager to ensure the effectiveness of the Group. All employees in GfK are expected to promote the image of the company. This will be done in part, by adopting a professional appearance and maintaining an efficient and effective working environment.
It is expected that employees adhere to any specific deadlines set in respect of company issues relating to professional servicing (internal and external) and objectives. The detail and scope of this job description may be altered to take account of changing company needs.

Time Requirements

Visiting retailers is expected to require about 16 hours over the last two week in a month. Travel time is paid.
