Bespoke proofreading and editing services for independent authors, academics, writers and businesses. Early manuscript review (beta reading) service for independent authors.

As an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), I follow its Code of Practice. I have completed several proofreading and editing courses with the CIEP, the Publishing Training Centre (PTC) and the Writers Bureau.

Services: proofreading, proof-editing and beta reading.

Experience:
My fiction editing experience includes YA, fantasy, sci-fi, romance and women's fiction. I have beta reading experience in YA, MG, fantasy, romance, thriller, action-adventure and women's fiction. My non-fiction editing experience includes PhD (and EdD) theses, research papers, a personal development book, rules for a game, and the storyboards for a game app.

I edit in Microsoft Word using Track Changes and Comments. I can also proofread using the Adobe commenting tools on PDF if you prefer (only available for projects that have already been professionally copy-edited and typeset). I have edited in UK and US English, and I've worked with dyslexic people and people whose first language is not English.

Prior to retraining as a proofreader and editor, I worked in the architectural design industry for twelve years, so when it comes to proofreading academic or business texts, I specialise in architecture and design-related disciplines, but I'm also comfortable with humanities and social sciences.

My business hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (not including bank holidays).
