Mathematics mentor/tutor Key Stage 3 and GCSE level, £20 an hour in Liverpool

Does your daughter/son 'hate' Maths? Do they struggle to follow in school with their classroom exercises? Or find it difficult to complete their homework tasks? Do they lack confidence in Maths in general?

The reason for this can often be large classroom sizes, where it is not possible for a teacher to always support one-on-one when required. Teaching approaches/styles are also often tailored to suit classes as a whole, when in some cases Maths requires a more specific approach dependant on the individual.

A little bit about myself... I recently submitted my PhD thesis (in Mathematics) and once I have passed my PhD viva, will hold my doctorate! Since primary school, Maths has always been my favourite subject. I sat my GCSE in Maths a year early and achieved an A*, then continued my studies on at A level, degree level (Maths and Sport Science) and then onto my PhD. Now that my PhD is finished, I have decided my next step is to start my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics and become a teacher!

Although I may be slightly bias, Maths is such an important school subject. With specific GCSE grades often required to continue onto any A levels or college programs, it is so important stay on track. Key Stage 3, consisting of years 7, 8 and 9, is therefore a crucial stage in time, in terms of ensuring your child feels on top of their school work and isn't falling behind. This is the reason for me wanting to offer a mentoring/tutoring service for these year groups, as well as GCSE level.

I would love to offer this mentoring/tutoring whereby I can help with the confidence that your child has in their own mathematical abilities, as well as with the improvement of their skills. Whether this consists of:

* approaching specific topics eg. number skills, probability or algebra, in which your child feels weak
*concentrating on past or present homeworks set
*revisiting classroom exercises, if they may have felt rushed or would benefit from repetition to ensure complete understanding
*for GCSE level, focussing on past GCSE paper questions and answers - identifying weaknesses and concentrating on these areas.

Or, if you have a specific request for what you think your child would benefit from, I would be open!

All sessions, unless otherwise agreed, would last one hour and be charged at £20. I am based in the Crosby/Blundellsands area, and would prefer to mentor from my own home as I think sometimes trying to study in their own home environment can be more distracting for you child!

If you believe that your child could benefit from this additional help and support in Maths, send over a message and we can discuss! Or if you know of somebody who may be interested, please invite them to like this page!

My availability as of now is most weekday evenings and all day Sunday.
Thank you guys
