A unusual book first published in 1969 by Stobart and Sons Ltd The front contains a fold-out section of 40 real veneer samples. Each wood is described in terms of 14 key characteristics to teach the method of identifying these and other woods. Illustrated throughout to identify uncut, unfinished trees by their leaves, fruits, and bark. It explains where each kind of tree is grown, uses of each wood e.g. lamination, veneering,carving, moulding, to finishing. Also the history of the use of wood from Stone Age to modern-day conservation issues and rare rain-forest species.An invaluable resource for everyone interested in wood and trees.

Very good condition inside but back cover and spine shows staining and fading as on photos .
